Trailing Trailers #115

The Bourne Legacy

Trailer

Like the cast and director, but the trailer doesn't really show or do a whole lot. It's pretty much just a teaser at this point, but even as a teaser it's nothing to write home about. Little is shown, but I like the people involved so that's where it at right now.

Let the Bullets Fly

Trailer

I don't know what the hell I just saw...but I like it.

Rampart

Trailer

You know, I've had a screener for this sitting on my desk for months. Months. It had a brief run in 2011 to qualify for awards and is now getting released, pretty common for the fall and winter time movies. Here's the thing, I just can't get up and watch it. I will...eventually...but the mixed reactions of the movie and the fact that Oren Moverman is writer/director just does nothing for me. I don't dislike Oren, of course. I have no reason to. He's just not done anything that's really gripped me or excited me. I'm Not There was written by him, and it was a mess of a movie. The Messenger is probably his best film but if that's his best, then I don't know what to think because I was a bit apathetic to it despite some good acting.

I will say this, though it's not fully in Rampart's favor. I do love me some cop dramas. Shows like Law and Order, NYPD Blue, The Shield and, most recently, Southland (seriously if you aren't watching this you're missing out) are some of my favorite shows. If anything, I'll see Rampart for that element, but really no other reason.

Dorothy and the Witches of Oz

Trailer

Anyone? Anyone? It's like a weird Enchanted-meets-awful and I just can't make heads or tails of it.

Wait a minute. This isn't a movie at all. It's a two part mini series made in the US yet for European and UK television. The hell is this madness? How utterly bizarre, no wonder it looks a little cheap. For a two-part TV movie, it does't seem horrible. It's up there with all those movie of the weeks  like Merlin or something like that. A little more of a budget here, but it's exactly what I think of.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Trailer

It's pretty much what I expected. It's darker in tone and style. Seems to take itself a little more seriously and so on. Special effects look fine, action, from the little we could see, seem fine too.

Unicorn City

Trailer

Hippies meet nerds, seems about right. My only concern is it seems so low-budget, it may not be much better than a fan film of some sort. However, it could be a somewhat-weird little comedy ala Napoleon Dynamite considering that Bryan Lefler (writer director) was involved with that film. That's what I'm hoping for.

Musical Chairs

Trailer

Oh no, not this again. Two star-crossed dancers meet and fall in love. Ungh…

There's a very specific audience for this, but I guarantee it'll make money.

Also, this trailer seems hell-bent on showing every major beat and story moment you can think of. Plus wheelchairs.
